RKP built its reputation in the BMW aftermarket, designing and manufacturing carbon fiber components for generations of M cars. With much of the A90 Supra's underlying engineering shared with BMW, developing a full replacement carbon fiber roof panel was a natural extension of RKP's experience.
The A90's factory double-bubble roof profile is recreated entirely in carbon fiber. The panel is laid up in 2x2 twill carbon fiber with a split-weave layup down the center of the roof. Each panel is made in the USA.
Weight reduction was a primary objective of the project. The factory roof weighs 16.0 lbs, while the RKP full replacement carbon fiber panel weighs 7.0 lbs—a reduction of 9.0 lbs from one of the highest points of the vehicle, reducing mass high in the chassis and lowering the vehicle's center of gravity.
