Sound Perfection: AWE Tuning 180 Technology™

As exhaust gases exit the 3.0T engine and flow into an AWE Tuning 180 Technology™ equipped resonator, they pass through strategically located ports, and into reflection chambers. Sound waves, carried by these exhaust gasses, bounce off the walls of the reflection chambers. By controlling the size and location of the ports and the chambers, we also control when the sound waves exit the chambers.  The specific timing of when the reflected sound waves re-join the main exhaust flow creates a one-hundred-and-eighty-degree out-of-phase sound wave that cancels out problematic frequencies. Tip options

Exhaust tips come with AWE Tuning logo, and double walling to ensure a mirror finish even under hard usage. All tips are individually adjustable, so stagger and depth into bumper can be set according to personal taste.

Please note: To accommodate the 102mm tips, the muffler itself had to be re-engineered, and as such, tips cannot be changed from 90mm to 102mm without the purchase of a new rear section of the system. .

Upgrading to downpipes later

Not sure if you want to do the full package yet? No worries. If you purchase a Downpipe-Back system alone, you have one full year from the date of Downpipe-Back system purchase to buy the complementing downpipes, for the price difference between the Downpipe-Back system alone and the package price (price at the time of downpipe purchase). This is for original owners only, and is valid through us directly, so long as proof of the original Downpipe-Back purchase can be provided.

None of the components of our B8 S5 exhaust system affect or alter any of the emissions devices on the vehicle, and therefore are legal for street use.

As with all AWE Tuning exhaust products, each TIG weld is hand finished internally, and flange openings are size matched to their ports, all to produce the smoothest flow possible. It is this intensive attention to detail that sets AWE Tuning exhaust products heads and shoulders above the rest.

Note: In limited cases, the factory downpipes have been known to emit minor rattling noises when paired with the AWE Tuning S5 Touring Edition exhaust system.  The possibility of rattling is eliminated with the addition of AWE Tuning downpipes. AWE Tuning downpipes are package discounted when purchased with the exhaust, or if they are purchased within one year of an exhaust purchase.
